By the end of this one you'll know what confluence means and why chart readers trust three signs agreeing more than one sign shouting.
Confluence is a big word for a small idea: several separate signs agreeing at the same time. On the farm, one dark cloud means nothing, we get those all day long. But dark clouds, plus the wind swinging around out of the east, plus the cows lying down in a huddle? Grandpa's pulling the tarp over the hay, because three signs together tell a stronger story than any one sign alone. Chart readers do the same thing with their own weather signs. Maybe the price is sitting at a level where it bounced before. Maybe volume, the count of how much is actually being bought and sold, is picking up. And maybe RSI, a little gauge that runs from 0 to 100 and shows how hard the price has been running lately, is climbing up out of the basement. Three different tools, all leaning the same way. The more separate signs that agree, the stronger the story gets. And still, some evenings the clouds roll in, the cows lie down, and it doesn't rain a single drop.

In this example, a coin sits at $100 and three separate signs agree: the price is resting right on a level where it bounced twice before, RSI, that 0 to 100 dial showing how hard the price has been running, is climbing up out of the low 20s, and the last three green candles, stretches where the price ended higher than it started, came with growing volume, meaning more buying and selling behind them.
People who trade on confluence would say that stack of signs makes a stronger story than any one sign alone.
And still, some days the price drops to $92 anyway, and the $100 becomes $92.
Stacked signs make a stronger story, they never make a sure one.
You're folding laundry at 10 pm with a trading video playing. The guy on screen circles three things at once, a price level that held twice before, an RSI gauge climbing out of the 20s, and volume growing under the green candles, and he calls it basically guaranteed.
